Sprinkler Protection of Storage


Storage occupancies present unique challenges to sprinkler system design and installation. NFPA 13 has complex and varying rules for the protection of stored commodities. This fast paced and interactive seminar will explore these requirements as they are related to types of commodities, storage configurations in racks and special storage situations. The participant will be guided through a series of decisions and requirements that lead to compliance with NFPA 13 and ensure the system will operate properly when needed.

Pumps for Fire Protection


Utilizing NFPA 20, Standard for the Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection this one-day program guides the participant through the basic operating principles of fire pumps; the requirements for the various components that make up a fire pump package and addresses the requirements for acceptance testing for the pump to ensure proper operation.


Learning Objectives:


At the conclusion of this seminar the participant will be able to:


1.    Describe the types of fire pumps and their applications

2.    Identify fire pump components

3.    Locate the requirements for fire pumps in NFPA 20

4.    Discuss installation requirements of electric motor and engine driven fire pumps

5.    Apply acceptance testing requirements for fire pumps and related equipment

Understanding, Applying & Enforcing NFPA 25


This highly interactive full day seminar describes the requirements for properly maintaining a water based fire protection system in accordance with NFPA 25. The seminar clearly describes the responsibilities for compliance & record keeping. It describes the specific scope of the standard, and identifies the various ways in which information related to changes in the system are handled. It describes the various Tables used in the standard, their specific purposes, and when to use which Tables. It involves the attendees in a significant number of exercises to describe various problems encountered, identify the proper section(s) of the standard that deals with it, and discuss how to deal with issues not covered by the standard that may still be encountered.


At the conclusion of this seminar the participant will be able to:


1.     Explain the areas to which the standard applies.

2.     Explain areas to which the standard does not apply, and how those areas are addressed.

3.     Explain the general definitions used in the standard that are common to all NFPA documents.

4.     Explain the various definitions specific to the standard, and their meaning.

5.     Discuss the impact and importance of the expanding number of definitions used in the standard and the necessity for them.

6.     Discuss the various Tables utilized throughout the standard and explain their respective purposes.

7.     Discuss and explain how to use the appropriate Table for the appropriate situation
