Fire Pumps Systems
This one-day seminar was developed for people who know basic hydraulics and want to add knowledge of fire pumps to their repertoire. The seminar will include a discussion of types of pumps, piping arrangements, equipment needed with the pump assembly, controllers, sizing pumps properly, dealing with multiple water supplies, and conducting acceptance testing.
By the end of this seminar, the participant will be able to:
1. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of putting pumps in parallel and in series.
2. Identify acceptable arrangements of suction pipe and describe the reasons for unacceptable arrangements.
3. Calculate the suction pressure that will occur at a fire pump.
4. Select an appropriately sized fire pump for a given fire protection system.
